Microsoft Windows Driver Development Kit
To support 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows operating systems, Microsoft offers a set of development and testing kits, as summarized on these pages.
When you install the DDK, you can select which build environments and which sections of the DDK documentation to install, based on the devices and operating systems for which you will be developing drivers.

DDK - Windows Driver Development Kit
Provides the build environment, tools, and information you need to develop drivers that can run on the following target operating systems:
Windows Server 2003 SP1 and earlier versions
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and earlier versions
Windows 2000

IFS - Installable File System Kit
Provides the interfaces and related documentation for developers to write file systems and file system filters for Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

 Which DDK to Use?
Summarizes which DDK to use, depending on the version of the Windows operating systems for which you are developing drivers.
